Fourth printing, signed and inscribed by Powers on half title page, 8vo, 386 pages, 16 pages of black and white photographs of hairstyles with perforated edges intended to be clipped out and given to hairdressers to imitate; sherbet green boards with light wear at extremities, previous owner's name at top of front free endpaper, front endpapers tanned where old magazine article was laid in, pink pictorial dust jacket is rubbed and edge worn with a couple of short closed tears at top edge, chipping and short tattered tears at spine ends, some very light soiling to rear. According to the dust jacket flap, "More than ever before, today's woman should make the most of her age-old duty to be attractive, interesting and of value to others." What follows then are about half a dozen chapters of instructions to women about how to diet, reduce, stand tall, sit pretty, and adorn themselves in order to appear the perfect feminine example of the time. In other words, attain the impossible. Great mid-century appeal.
